Electricity Cost Calculator

You can calculate from power and runtime, energy per cycle, annual kWh from an EnergyGuide label, or measured kWh from a smart plug or meter.

Electricity cost calculator

Choose the information you have, then enter your electricity price to estimate operating costs.

For cycling appliances, EnergyGuide annual kWh or representative measured kWh is usually more useful than continuous rated power.

Current scenario

Use actual average power while running. Rated maximum watts may overestimate cycling equipment.

Your electricity price

Enter your own rate from your bill. For example, 18.3 cents/kWh equals $0.183/kWh; it is not a suggested rate.

Calculate my rate from my bill

This effective rate uses the charges you enter. Fixed charges may not decline with appliance use, so appliance savings and total bill savings may differ.

Compare & Save

Compare an alternative using the same electricity price. Uncheck the option below to calculate only the current scenario.

Which method should I use?

Use annual kWh or measured usage when possible for cycling appliances such as refrigerators, air conditioners, and heat pumps. Rated wattage multiplied by 24 hours can substantially overstate real consumption because these appliances turn on and off.

BoodBill calculations estimate electricity operating cost only. Your actual utility bill can also include fixed charges, taxes, time-of-use pricing, demand charges, or tiered rates.
